About the course
The WW-Course is designed for future students of business at universities of applied sciences. It provides business and mathematical foundations with a strong focus on practical applications and prepares you specifically for the application-oriented approach of universities of applied sciences.
In addition to the business content, you'll also learn business terminology and practice-oriented working methods that will play an important role in your later studies at a university of applied sciences.

The WW-Course subjects in detail
The WW-Course covers the economic fundamentals but keeps them consistently practical. Business administration is at the centre: accounting, controlling, human resources, logistics and marketing are worked through on concrete examples, complemented by economic context and the basics of company management.
Mathematics provides the toolkit — business mathematics, statistics and financial calculation with direct application. German and English train business communication, economic terminology and presentations, exactly the formats required at a university of applied sciences and during internships.
What a typical week looks like
The WW-Course is full-time study in a fixed class group with a fixed timetable, offered by Studienkollegs that prepare students for universities of applied sciences. Case examples, calculation tasks, small project assignments and presentations shape the lessons more than pure theory.
Attendance is normally monitored and you write tests throughout the semester. Since many tasks ask for both a calculation and an explanation, writing out full solutions from the start pays off more than noting down results alone.
What the Feststellungsprüfung tests in the WW-Course
The two semesters end with the Feststellungsprüfung (FSP). It covers German plus the core subjects of your course — in the WW-Course usually mathematics and business or economics. Each Studienkolleg decides which subjects are examined and whether an oral exam is added.
The certificate entitles you to study in the economics field group at universities of applied sciences. Whether you can later move to a research university, and under what conditions, is regulated differently by each federal state and institution — clarify this in advance if a university degree is your goal.
Which degree programmes the WW-Course opens up
The WW-Course leads to practice-oriented business programmes at universities of applied sciences: business administration, business informatics, international business, logistics, marketing, tourism management, human resource management and e-commerce. Practical semesters and company projects are part of everyday study there.
The difference to the W-Course is the institution type: the W-Course prepares for a university degree with a stronger theoretical and quantitative share, the WW-Course for applied study. The WW-Course is offered by only a few Studienkollegs, so check early which ones run it.
